Rottnest Island Golf Club
63 Years On - 63 Years Strong
The Golf Course
The course is 5568 metres for men and 4814 meters for ladies. Par for the course is 70 strokes, 35 for each nine. The ACR is 67 for men and 70 for women with the slope rating of 110.
The current layout boasts two flags per green with white/red checked flags for front 9 and and Yellow and Blue slash flags for back 9.
A completely unique setup only found on Rottnest Golf Course.
In 1970 alternate tees were introduce by Des Sullivan and Cam McNab. This added variety to the golf course. The Tee boxes in the early days where just mounds of hardened dirt, but eventually all became wooden structures. Up until 2012, all tee boxes are built from brick. Rubber tee mats were introduced in the early 1960s, but since 1987 synthetic tees were installed.
The course now in 2013 has gone through a most impressive upgrade in the history of the club. After many years of negotiations among prominent Club members and Rottnest Island Authority Board members and the Island CEO the course is currently being upgraded with capital works.
